AppWorks was created by developer Keith Lander.
Keith began programming in 1967, working on the monitoring and control software for the Cunard QE2. In 1980 he developed Metacrafts Forth for the Apple II, and a few years later created MacAuthor, one of the earliest word processors for the Macintosh. MacAuthor was used by writers such as Douglas Adams to write Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency.
For the past several years Keith has been developing Writing Shed Pro, a writing environment designed specifically for creative writers. While it supports fiction, drama and general prose, poetry has always been one of its greatest strengths.
The Poetry Studio includes support for dozens of poetic forms together with tools for analysing metre, rhyme (including full, near and slant rhyme), syllable counts and detailed writing statistics. An optional AI Manuscript Analyst can also provide constructive feedback on poems and longer works.
Keith also developed Word Chaser specifically to help him solve the daily Wordle puzzle and VroomLog to keep track of vehicle costs.
